Council has an exciting opportunity for a Corporate Governance Officer to join the Governance & Risk team on a fixed term basis until September 2025, with the possibility of an extension until March 2026.

Reporting to the Coordinator Integrity & Governance, the Corporate Governance Officer plays an important role in supporting the Governance and Risk team. The role supports the development, implementation and management of governance and integrity strategies, systems and procedures that underpin risk and compliance, and promote transparency and an ethical culture.

About this opportunity

  • Provide project management support on Council’s major annual project to prepare and publish the Annual Report. You will coordinate the project plan, collate information from across council, manage stakeholders, and take a lead in drafting the report.
  • As Secretariat to the Audit and Risk Committee, you will play a leadership role in managing the committee’s work program, finalising agendas, coordinating reports and preparing minutes.
  • You will provide highly valued administration support across Council’s governance, integrity and statutory compliance processes across fraud and corruption, freedom of information, privacy, data security, integrity disclosures and delegations.
  • You will take a leadership role in supporting effective and efficient operational processes including work procedures, templates, registers, and use of corporate reporting systems.
  • Support transparency and performance reporting by coordinating corporate reporting including quarterly Council Plan reporting and Local Government Performance Report Framework (Know Your Council). 

What you will bring

  • Excellent administrative skills, experience in supporting a team and delivering outcomes in the required timeframe.
  • Ability to work independently and prioritise tasks.
  • Sound research, analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • A high level of diplomacy and discretion in dealing with processes relating to confidential information.
  • Ability to problem solve and negotiate with both internal and external customers.
  • Passion for governance and integrity processes.
