About the Role:

We are seeking a Council Services Coordinator to coordinate the delivery of MacDonnell Regional Council critical municipal and commercial operations such as:

  • Indigenous Essential Services (power, water, and sewerage).
  • Centrelink agency services
  • Airstrip maintenance
  • Postal services
  • Special projects as required
  • Animal management
  • Cemetery management
  • Internal roads maintenance
  • Parks and open space management
  • Sports ground management
  • Waste management
  • Weed control and hazard reduction

This role involves supervising and mentoring local teams, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, and meeting all legislative and contractual requirements. The position also emphasises building strong relationships with stakeholders and fostering local ownership of services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan municipal work activities in accordance with management guidelines
  • Ensure services are delivered efficiently and remain within budget
  • Maintain accurate department records
  • Provide mentoring and training of staff to build skills and independence.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and contracts.
  • Mediate, negotiate, and resolve conflicts with diverse stakeholders.

  • Experience in a similar role.
  • Proven ability to mentor, lead, and train staff.
  • Strong communication skills to build relationships and resolve conflicts.
  • A solid understanding of Aboriginal culture, with sensitivity to cultural impacts.
