About the role

This position is a permanent full-time role leading the People and Safety team based at Council’s Administration Office in Moruya. A key focus will be to lead and drive the strategic direction of the People and Safety department in collaboration with the leadership team. 

Main duties include:

  • providing strategic leadership of human resources services across the organisation
  • providing strong leadership and management of the People and Safety department, including developing and monitoring Council’s Workforce Strategy as part of Council’s Delivery Program & Operational Plan
  • providing high level HR and WHS consultancy advice and oversee case management on matters relating to Industrial Relations, workplace safety and performance management
  • orchestrating workforce management and transformation to create a safe and positive workplace

The role is a member of the Executive Leadership Team and sits within the Finance and Corporate Services Directorate.

About you

We are looking for a qualified, professional people leader ready to engage and lead the department to deliver people and safety activities across the organisation. The ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification and 5 or more years local government senior management experience and demonstrate high level people management skills including successfully leading and managing a team of HR professionals. A substantial track record of providing advice and managing employment related matters is also required.

Salary Information

An attractive salary package will be negotiated with the successful candidate, inclusive of a cash component, Executive Manager Allowance, fully maintained Council salary packaged vehicle (including full private usage) and 11.5% superannuation.

A satisfactory outcome as a result of a National Criminal History Record Check is required for appointment to this position.
