The Opportunity
As an Information Systems Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective design, implementation, management, and maintenance of Council’s information systems infrastructure. Your expertise will help translate business requirements into robust technical solutions while maintaining system security, reliability, and scalability.
  
This role offers the opportunity to collaborate closely with internal stakeholders, including IS professionals, business users, and external vendors, to deliver efficient and innovative IT solutions. A key focus of this position is TechnologyOne, where you will serve as the primary point of contact for all TechnologyOne projects, processes, and enhancements within Council.
  
Key Responsibilities
 

  • Assist with the design, implementation, and upgrades of information systems based on business needs.
  • Develop system specifications, architecture diagrams, and documentation.
  • Lead TechnologyOne projects and enhancements, serving as the key point of contact for all TechnologyOne processes and system improvements within Council.
  • Support the Information Systems Manager with feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Manage and maintain IT infrastructure, including servers, networks, and databases.
  • Monitor system performance and identify areas for optimisation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues to ensure system reliability.
  • Implement and maintain security measures, ensuring compliance with industry standards (e.g., ASD Essential Eight, ISO27001).
  • Identify and implement automation opportunities to improve efficiency.
  • Provide technical support and training to end-users and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors to evaluate and implement new technologies.
  • Required to be available for on-call work as part of a rotating schedule, subject to change at management’s discretion based on operational requirements with prior notice.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation and generate system performance reports.
  • Stay up to date with emerging technologies, recommending improvements to enhance IT infrastructure.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in ICT, Information Systems, or a related field and/or proven experience in designing, implementing, and managing information systems and software.
  • Strong understanding of Windows Server 2019+, virtualisation technologies (VMware, Hyper-V), and database management systems (MSSQL).
  • Experience with TechnologyOne ERP (Ci, CiAnywhere) (Highly Desirable).
  • Proficiency in networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP) and Microwave Networking.
  • Strong knowledge of security best practices, SIEM solutions (e.g., Microsoft Sentinel), and ITIL framework.
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and scripting languages (PowerShell).
  • Certifications in relevant technologies (e.g., MCSE, CCNA, CompTIA Security+).
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills, with the ability to work independently and in a team and;
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, manage time effectively, and deliver high-quality IT solutions.

General Salary Information 
Level 5 $89,896 per annum plus superannuation.
