Oberon Council is seeking applications from motivated and reliable Labourers to support various council operations, including:

  • Parks and Gardens: Assist in the maintenance and beautification of public parks and gardens, including planting, mowing, and landscaping.
  • Traffic Management: Help with the setup and maintenance of traffic control measures to ensure safety during roadworks and events.
  • Water Maintenance: Support the maintenance of water systems.
  • Road Maintenance: Participate in road repairs, including pothole filling, surface maintenance, and general upkeep.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform physical tasks related to maintenance and construction.
  • Operate tools and machinery safely and effectively.
  • Work collaboratively with team members and other departments.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Assist with other duties as required by the council.

Key Selection Criteria

Essential

  1. Must hold a construction industry induction card issues by SafeWork NSW - Work Safely in the construction industry, or the ability to obtain prior to commencement of work.
  2. Relevant work experience in a labouring role in either parks & gardens, cleaning, concreting, building, roads or signs maintenance.
  3. Demonstrated ability to work as a member of a team, follow instructions and complete assigned tasks.
  4. Demonstrated willingness to attend training and learn new skills associated with a variety of activities
  5. Demonstrated ability to operate electronic devices, i.e. mobile phone and/or tablet or be prepared to be trained in other operations.
  6. demonstrated ability to carry out manual, physically demanding labour on a day-to-day basis.
  7. Class C driver's license.
  8. Have or willingness to obtain certificates in chemical usage, endorsement for various heavy equipment/plant.

Desirable

  1. MR/HR licence and experience operating a variety of plant and machinery.
  2. Previous experience working on road construction projects.
  3. Hold a current Implement Traffic Control Plans to traffic Controller ticket.
