We are looking for a suitably qualified individual to play a vital role in enhancing the efficiency, safety, and sustainability of the transport network in Hobsons Bay. As a Traffic and Transport Engineer, you will contribute to innovative solutions that address transport and traffic challenges, fostering a customer-first approach while collaborating with internal and external stakeholders.

What you’ll be working on

  • Leading investigations and provide expert solutions for complex traffic and transport challenges, including customer inquiries, town planning referrals, and compliance with statutory requirements, ensuring timely and high-quality outcomes.
  • Drive the planning, design, and delivery of transport capital works projects, develop advocacy documents for grant applications, and contribute to the implementation of integrated transport strategies and Local Area Movement Plans.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to promote sustainable, safe, and efficient transport solutions, aligning projects with legislative frameworks and council priorities while minimizing community disruption.

What you need to succeed 

  • A tertiary qualification in engineering, with experience in traffic and transport planning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of traffic management legislation, guidelines, and sustainable transport strategies.
  • Proficiency in project management, including budget control, scheduling, and concept design.
  • Experience with tools such as VISSIM, SIDRA, AutoCAD, and traffic management planning software.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to achieve creative solutions independently.
  • Excellent community consultation and stakeholder engagement skills, ensuring a customer-first focus.
