About the role 

Join City of Moreton Bay as a Technical Officer - Waste Planning and Compliance, and help shape and enhance our communities for today and tomorrow!

As part of the Waste Services team, you'll be delivering projects, reports and investigations in waste and resource recovery planning, and regulatory compliance. You'll be reviewing Waste Services plans, building high level relationships, and providing technical advice and support in the development and implementation of Council policies, procedures, guidelines and other documentation supporting waste management and resource recovery Council services.

You'll also:

  • Liaise with waste management project stakeholders, service providers, contractors, consultants and federal, state and local government agencies 
  • Undertake procurement activities 
  • Engage with, support and train the weighbridge operators, waste facilities staff and contractors
  • Act as a key point of contact, in the day to day operational management of all matters relating to operational site compliance audits
  • Identify opportunities for Waste Services delivery improvements, working collaboratively with the broader Waste Services team.

About you

We're looking for your strong experience preparing briefs, scope of works and specifications, as well as  interpreting legislation, codes of practice, industry standards, and best practices relevant to waste management facilities.

You'll also have:

  • Extensive experience including data collation, analysis, modelling, reporting and presentation of large complex data sets
  • Well-developed understanding and application of project management principles
  • Tertiary qualification in environmental science, environmental accounting, law, or other relevant field or relevant experience
  • Current C class driver’s licence (required)
  • Construction Induction Card (or willing to obtain)
