About the Opportunity

Cowra Council is seeking a highly motivated and suitable applicant to fill the position of Technical Roads Assistant - RMCC within our Infrastructure & Operations Department. This position will undertake a range of technical and labouring duties associated with the role to ensure compliance in relation to TfNSW and Council Road Management Systems. Duties include, however are not limited to;

  • Monitor and complete TfNSW contractual requirements through Reflect Defect Management and Audit System.
  • Assist with weekly and yearly audits of the road network.
  • Assist with surveillance of external contractors and quality assurance requirements.
  • Assist and monitor the set up and dismantling of traffic control signage on job sites to comply with the traffic control work site manual.
  • Assist with construction and maintenance projects under Councils Integrated Management System along with TfNSW quality assurance and technical procedures.
  • Perform Traffic Control duties, including inspections of traffic guidance scheme, daily onsite inspections and weekly checks as required under the G10 Traffic control specifications.
  • Perform mandatory after hours and on call work on a rotating roster. The on call allowance when you are performing on call duties is $216pw. Overtime is paid at the appropriate penalty rate. 

Previous experience in undertaking these duties or a similar role will be an advantage. The successful applicant will be required to use a digital tablet to maintain records therefore a basic knowledge in the use of technology is required along with a high standard of written and verbal communication skills. A ‘can do’ work ethic and ability to work positively within a team are essential.
