About the position

The Assistant Environmental Health Officer will provide support to the Senior Environmental Health Officer in administering Council’s functions in relation to; environmental and public health; assessing and determining certain applications under the Local Government Act; undertaking inspections associated with the Food Act, Public Health Act and Local Government Act, within statutory timeframes and in accordance with relevant legislative provisions; and provide timely and regulatory advice to the public and other professionals associated with this role. The Assistant Environmental Health Officer will also be required to maintain Council’s registers, provide administrative support to the Planning, Environment and Regulatory Services Department, demonstrate high levels of customer service and have excellent organisational skills.

About you

  • Certificate IV in Business Administration, Local Government or similar, or relevant experience in Local Government/State Government or relevant experience in hospitality (food service);
  • Current NSW Drivers License;
  • Developed high level of communication, literacy, numeracy and computer skills;
  • Demonstrated high level of customer service and time management skills;
  • Interest in gaining a career in Environmental Health;
  • Demonstrated experience and/or capability to deliver the Job Specific Key Accountabilities (outlined in the Position Description)
  • Demonstrated Fundamental key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description)

  • Salary from $60,773 to $70,387 per year (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 11.5% superannuation
