This position has a key role in the delivery of bushfire risk management work on Council land across the city, including site assessment and markup, procurement and contractor management, and related administration. This also requires interagency liaison and coordination as well as community and internal stakeholder engagement. The role works as part of a small team and is supported by a second Bushfire Management Officer and the Program Leader – Emergency Management.

Applicants must be able to articulate a thorough understanding of Council’s responsibilities under the Rural Fires Act 1997 and Blue Mountains Bush Fire Risk Management Plan and must have an awareness of the related planning and operating framework, such as the Bush Fire Environmental Assessment Code and Bushfire Protection for Existing Development Guidelines. Experience managing contractors and skills with modern digital applications and systems are also essential.

Full time with rostered day off scheme, flexible working arrangements subject to negotiation.

An operational vehicle is associated with the position and a commuter use agreement (to & from work only) is available.

Remuneration: base salary commencing at $86,547 gross per annum
 + 11.5% superannuation 
 + performance payment 1% - 3.5% annual salary 
 + annual award increase
