Are you passionate about ensuring the safety of children and creating a secure environment around schools?

We have an exciting opportunity for a School Crossing Supervisor to join our team and play a crucial role in safeguarding the well-being of young students.

As a School Crossing Supervisor, you will assist school children and other pedestrians to cross at established children’s crossings and traffic lights.

About the role:

  • Supervising children and pedestrians at children’s crossings and traffic lights during nominated hours on school days
  • Be correctly attired and equipped at all times whilst performing the duties of a School Crossing Supervisor
  • Maintaining a high level of awareness, professional behaviour and conduct
  • Strict adherence to relevant policies and procedures including the VicRoads Instructions for Children’s Crossing Supervisors and Banyule Employee Code of Conduct
  • Travel flexibility to work at any allocated crossings with the municipality
  • This is the right role for you if you enjoy working outdoors, meeting new people, and working short hours

Skills and experiences:

  • Experience working at a Children's Crossing
  • Have a high level of awareness and an ability to judge traffic flow
  • Be able to work with children specifically and the wider public in general
  • Understand the relevant traffic laws
  • Ability to communicate via email, text and mobile phone
  • The ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift/carry crossing equipment
  • The ability to work in any weather condition.
  • The ability to work without supervision
