We are looking for:

Byron Shire Council is currently seeking a Community Facilities Officer. This role is responsible for supporting the optimal use of Council’s community facilities. This role ensures the efficient and effective use of community spaces, providing excellent customer service and leading the development and implementation of improved systems.

The Community Facilities Officer acts as a primary point of contact for hirers, coordinating bookings, handling inquiries, and ensuring compliance with Council policies. The role coordinates contractors such as delivery of cleaning and minor maintenance and involves working with Council’s volunteer hall committees. A key aspect of the role is to support the development and implementation of new processes and platforms for service delivery, including online bookings systems and video-based hirer orientation materials.

The Community Facilities Officer will also support asset sponsorship of Council’s community facilities, including supporting relationship management with Council’s lessees/licensees, establishment and renewal of leases/licenses, implementation of strategic projects and resolution of emerging issues.

This role is part of Council’s transition measures for improved management of community facilities. The role is being offered as a 12-month term with possibility of extension.

About you: 

  • Proven experience in customer service, booking management, and/or business administration, preferably within a local government or community services setting.
  • Proven experience in using information technology and systems to improve efficient and effective service delivery to clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a focus on customer experience and service outcomes with diverse stakeholders including Council staff and community members.
  • Ability to handle inquiries, resolve issues, and provide appropriate solutions capably, consistently and professionally.
  • Aptitude for quality and systems improvement with ability to make sound recommendations and take follow up actions that are aligned with better practices, relevant legislation and/or guidelines, and informed by stakeholder input.

We offer: 

  • A 12 month maximum term position with possibility of extension (35 hours per week)

  • Salary and Conditions will be in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award with an appointment at a salary in the range of $1,310.30 to $1,518.18 per 35 hour week (dependent upon skills and experience)

 Location:

This position is based at Mullumbimby, however Council can require you to work from other work sites as required for operational reasons.
