The Opportunity

We currently have an exciting Community Health Promotion Projects Officer position reporting to the Team Leader, Community Health Promotion, within our Social Planning and Wellbeing team. This position will oversee the delivery of the Free from Violence program.

In this role, you will build and maintain effective relationships across organisational and diverse community stakeholders, and embed collaboration and inclusion applications, such as systems thinking, community engagement, codesign and intersectionality principles.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and evaluate initiatives which contribute to the Free from Violence 2022 – 2025 government-funded program, and the Equality and Respect 2030: A Strategy to prevent violence against women by promoting gender equity, and other relevant strategies and plans.
  • Work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement evidence-based, prevention-focused initiatives aimed at preventing violence against women and promoting gender equity.
  • Facilitate the revision of existing policies and procedures relating to portfolio areas.
  • Deliver internal capacity building sessions for Council staff to increase awareness and understanding of how to support the community in response to emerging health and social issues.
  • Stakeholder engagement, planning and evaluation skills on prevention-focused health and wellbeing priorities, as outlined in the Council and Wellbeing plan, and Equality and Respect 2030 Strategy.
