About the opportunity

A permanent, full-time opportunity exists for a motivated and experienced Coordinator Resources Access. 

As a member of the Library senior management team you will:

  • assist in delivering an efficient, effective and customer-focused library service to the community
  • coordinate the Resources Access section by providing strong leadership to the team
  • manage resources and budget
  • coordinate the library's collection development, procurement and technical services processes
  • provide collection advice for future new library branches under Western Sydney Infrastructure Grants (WSIG) projects.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA). Eligible for professional membership of ALIA
  • In-depth public library experience and knowledge of work
  • Class C drivers licence
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC)
  • Proven ability to lead a cross-functional team and to work effectively as a team member
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written, and demonstrated presentation skills
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to excellence in customer service and to continuous improvement
  • Experience in process review. Well developed problem solving skills. Demonstrated initiative
  • Experience in staff and/or user training including program development: needs analysis, planning, design and delivery, evaluation
  • Relevant computer skills, including experience in online resources and Web 2.0
  • Ability to work flexible hours
  • Demonstrated understanding of EEO and WHS principles with the demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse client groups.

Desirable:

  • Experience in coordinating budgets
  • Experience in contracts management
  • Supervisory experience
  • Demonstrated high-level negotiation skills
  • Collection development experience
  • Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $2,092.25 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
