ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The Libraries team operate eight (8) locations across the Cumberland LGA and assist customers and members of the public with locating materials, answering questions and providing guidance on research strategies.

The Home Library Assistant position requires an enthusiastic, customer oriented person who has good communication skills. The ability to be an effective member of a team is critical to the success of this role as is accuracy and attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines.

The successful applicant will require:

  • Year 12 higher school certificate or equivalent
  • Experience in a library or similar customer service environment
  • Current NSW Class C Drivers Licence
  • Valid Working with Children Check number
  • High level interpersonal and customer service skills
  • Demonstrated ability to safely and efficiently perform heavy lifting, loading and unloading activities
  • Experience with using computers and email in a work environment

About this role: 

  • 1x permanent part-time position.
  • Working 56 hours per fortnight on a roster, Monday to Friday, minimum 5 hours per day.
  • This position is primarily based predominately at Auburn Library, however you may be required to work across any of Council's Libraries Venues.

Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.

  • Grade 5 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with a salary range of $32.04 to $36.85 per hour plus 11.5% superannuation
  • The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
