  • Salary Range Band 7 $107,570 - $120,376 plus 11.5% Super
  • Full time permanent role in a highly regarded communications and marketing team

City of Port Phillip is an inner-city council with around 1000 employees who deliver more than 100 programs and services to our residents, businesses and visitors. These range from childcare and immunisations, to libraries, management of parks and open space, rubbish collection, road maintenance and more. About the Role

This Internal and Corporate Communications Lead position will suit a communications professional with excellent skills in writing, internal communications and event coordination, and a passion for delivering customer-focused communications and engaging content that deliver results.

Deliver, inform and enhance multi-dimensional communications for across the organisation. Execute effective staff communications across a range of internal channels and deliver consistently high quality written and multi-media communications, materials and presentations.

Duties: 

  • Champion and implement internal communications and corporate communications across the organisation.
  • Coordinate all organisational internal communications campaigns and facilitate campaign implementation across all available internal communication channels, including responsibility for fortnightly staff email newsletters and regular CEO email and video messages.
  • Coordinate the development and organisation of all staff sessions and award presentation events, including the creation and production of all required content.
  • Collaborate and consult with the Mayor, CEO and Executive Leadership Team to produce speeches, talking points and weekly communications bulletins, using a range of accessible media, modalities and tools, including video as required.
  • Assist and support effective intranet communications and content, including writing news articles and other intranet content, and creating and scheduling messages for desktop wallpapers and digital signage screens.
  • Coordinate visual communications within the organisation, including images and videos.
  • Create content for corporate communication channels such as LinkedIn and the CEO Report, and similar tasks as requested.
  • Undertake and contribute to corporate communications projects that have impacts to brand and reputation, and act as a key resource in the Communications and Brand team.

Skills and Experience 

  • Extensive experience in the development and implementation of successful internal communications strategies, programs, campaigns and initiatives, as well as excellent written and verbal communications skills.
  • Superior business writing skills and demonstrable experience in writing, editing and producing communications to the highest standard, for internal communication channels such as intranet, staff bulletins, video scripts and presentations.
  • Coordination and delivery of staff town hall events including creation and production of all associated content, including speaker notes and presentation materials.
  • Multi-media communications experience, including video filming and editing and photography.
  • Collaboration with a broad range of stakeholders including staff from all services and at all levels across Council, and other key stakeholders and community partners. 
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines in a busy environment with multiple stakeholders and demands.
