Council are seeking a skilled and customer focused IT Support Officer to join Council's Business Services team for 6 months. The IT Support Officer will play a key role in supporting the Information Technology (IT) team with IT help desk support, IT projects, induction, and procedure documentation.  

About this opportunity

Reporting to Council's Coordinator Information Technology, The IT Support Officer will ensure our client’s systems run smoothly, identify and resolve technical issues, and escalate problems to appropriate teams when necessary. 

As the IT Support Officer, you are empowered to provide an exceptional experience for staff interactions with IT services. You will be pivotal in enhancing IT service desk work practices that resolve staff issues, deliver on service requests, and improve staff self-help. 

Other key responsibilities include: 

  • Being responsible for new user set-up on Council's network. This includes corporate databases, network drive permissions, mailbox, and calendar sharing, and coordinating user set-up for department-specific applications.
  • Providing thorough induction for new staff on Council systems.
  • Ensuring the IT exit checklist is completed for departing staff and disabling user accounts on Council network.
  • Maintaining building security card database.
  • Providing internal IT support service to agreed service levels as required for all staff and councillors.
  • Maintaining and documenting Organisational and Departmental procedures.
  • Running reports for IT Helpdesk.
  • Triaging tickets and managing the IT Helpdesk.
  • Travelling to other Council office locations occasionally.

What will you bring

  • Diploma or equivalent ICT experience 1-2 years
  • Relevant experience in providing helpdesk and network administration in a medium sized organisation across dispersed sites.
  • Highly effective interpersonal skills to assist user understanding and service.
  • Demonstrated organisational skills to manage programs and services.
  • High degree of independence and motivation.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse, report on and document systems issues and procedures.
  • Local government experience desirable.

  • Is able to travel to different work sites within the Murrindindi Shire, such as providing evidence of a current drivers licence.
