About the opportunity

We are seeking an energetic and motivated Library Technician to join the Community Learning Team on a permanent, full-time basis.

It is essential to have excellent written and verbal communication skills, play a key role in promoting library print and digital resources, and enhance customer experience and digital engagement.

Leadership as well as team contribution are important to the success of this role, as well as having suitable experience in a public library setting.

We have 7 community libraries across our local government area, including Blacktown, Mount Druitt, Stanhope Gardens, Riverstone, Lalor Park, a temporary library at Marsden Park, and our mobile library service.

We offer a wide range of services to our community including but not limited to, borrowing services, a digital library, study support services, technology workshops, and multicultural, children and youth services. Qualifications and experience
 

Essential:

  • Library Technician Diploma, Associate Diploma or equivalent, as recognised by the Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA)
  • Suitable library experience
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to a customer-focused service
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • Demonstrated ability to work within a team environment and independently
  • Well-developed problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated high level of skill in digital literacy
  • Working with Children Check (WWCC).

Desirable:

  • Class C driver's licence
  • First aid certification
  • Ability to speak a community language.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,265.47 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
