The Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Aquatic Instructor to assist in the development and implementation of high-quality, customer-focused, and safe swim school programs. These include Learn to Swim, Transition to Squads, Infant Aquatics, and School Swim programs. This role offers a blend of teaching, mentoring, and leadership, where you'll make an impact in every class you lead.

As a Senior Aquatic Instructor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • On-Deck Supervisor: Oversee and ensure the smooth delivery of swimming classes, providing leadership to Junior Aquatic Educators and ensuring all lessons meet our quality and safety standards.
  • Customer Service Administrator: Maintain accurate records of students' progress, attendance, and competency via digital portals, and provide exceptional customer service to parents/guardians.
  • Senior Aquatic Educator Instructor: Conduct engaging and effective swim lessons for a variety of programs, from Learn to Swim to Transition to Squads and Infant Aquatics, fostering a fun, structured, and inclusive environment for students of all levels.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Develop and guide Junior Aquatic Educators, helping them grow their skills, gain qualifications, and master effective teaching methods.
  • Assessment & Quality Control: Regularly assess students’ swim levels, provide feedback, and track progress to ensure the best educational outcomes for every participant.
  • Safety First: Ensure that all programs are delivered in a safe environment, adhering to the Swim & Survive policy and procedure, and respond to emergencies when necessary.
  • Communication: Maintain strong communication with parents/guardians about student progress and create clear learning pathways for ongoing development.

What We’re Looking For

To succeed in this role, you will have:

  • Experience: At least 10 years of experience in aquatic education, with a proven ability to assess, coach, and supervise.
  • Leadership Skills: Ability to mentor and supervise junior instructors, ensuring a high standard of program delivery and safety.
  • Customer Focused: A commitment to delivering excellent customer service and creating a welcoming environment for all participants and their families.
  • Program Development: Experience in developing and delivering Learn to Swim, Infant Aquatics, Transition to Squads, and School Swim programs.
  • Qualification Requirements: AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety, AUSTSWIM Assessor, and current First Aid & CPR certifications.
  • Desirable Skills: Experience in Autism Swim Certification, AUSTSWIM Teacher of Adults, and other advanced aquatic qualifications.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to handle challenging situations calmly and decisively, including emergencies.
