The Support Officer will be customer-focused, providing a welcoming environment to the visitors, artists and contractors of The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre.

We are looking for casual staff who have demonstrated experience in customer service and can communicate programs and information to customers from a wide range of backgrounds and age groups. Staff are expected to greet all people who enter The Leo Kelly Blacktown Arts Centre and interact with them in our exhibitions, our Makers Space and any other programs we have on that day.

The role includes front of house, ticketing, reception, administrative assistance to the team, set up and pack down for events and catering, as well as maintaining the appearance of a multipurpose venue. Staff must have a commitment to safety while working at the Arts Centre, and also represent the venue in either fire warden or first aid officer duties (training provided).

We are seeking casual staff that have availability during our opening hours Tuesday – Saturday, where the roster can vary from 1 to 4 shifts per week, and range from 3 – 7 hours per shift. There are also some opportunities to work evenings for events or at other sites in the Blacktown area. This role is not suitable for anyone seeking full-time equivalent hours or who can only work weekends or evenings.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Minimum Certificate III in a related field
  • Suitable experience in an arts environment and or demonstrable interest and or participation in the arts industry
  • High-level oral and written communication skills including sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work productively and collaboratively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary environment
  • Working with Children Check valid for paid work.

Desirable:

  • Experience using corporate databases (e.g. TRIM, Tech1, SCOUT)
  • Experience in basic financial management
  • Proven competency in minute-taking
  • Proven excellent time management and organisation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, meet diverse business priorities and work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a busy and ever-changing workload.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • An hourly rate applies at $37.6026 (Grade 6, entry level) plus 25% casual loading and penalty rates apply for weekend shifts.
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
