About the Role

Casual Venue & Events Duty Officer vacancies now exist in the Venue Management team. These positions assist with the efficient operation of Council’s venues including halls, meeting rooms and servicing events in venues across the municipality. 

Your excellent communication, organisational and strong problem-solving skills will be key to ensure you succeed in this position. 

Successful applicants must be available to work weekdays, after hours, weekends and public holidays. Shifts rostered monthly with no set guaranteed hours. 

A requirement of this role is to be the onsite Emergency Warden for all rostered shifts. Applicants need not apply if they are uncomfortable with this directive.

Duties:

  • Act as Emergency Warden whilst on duty for meetings & events in Council venues
  • Physical set up and pack down of council venue bookable spaces
  • Support hirers with the use of council audio visual, sound and lighting equipment
  • Service of catering and beverages in line with relevant legislation and Council Policies
  • Liaise with Council Cleaning and Security contractors regarding event requirements
  • Ensure all facilities and resources are used and maintained correctly and any damages are reported

Skills and Experience 

  • An assertive aptitude and be comfortable working autonomously and confident taking charge in varied situations
  • Current Full Victorian Drivers Licence
  • Working with Children’s Check
  • Food Handlers Certificate
  • Responsible Service of Alcohol
  • Previous Audio Visual, Sound and Lighting experience
  • Knowledge of Security management for venues
  • Experience in applying correct manual handling techniques and the ability to lift heavy equipment
  • Elevated Work Platform (under 11 meters)
