We are looking for a WHS Manager to join our team and
drive our safety culture.

Over the past four years, Armidale Regional Council has been on a journey of significant change. Our goal is to be a high performing business and we all understand that achieving that will take time and an ongoing commitment to continuous improvement.

Values and behaviours are central to this path. Our culture has been built around these foundations and this remains our number one priority. Anyone joining our team needs to understand our journey and be able to get on board, live our values, call others out where they aren’t and ‘walk the talk’.

About You

The opportunity to join Council and lead the charge in fostering a safety-first culture needs a dynamic individual
who is both hands-on and strategic, capable of rolling up their sleeves while charting the course of our workplace health and safety initiatives.

As Manager, you will be leading a small team of safety and Return to Work (RTW) professionals, guiding their development and amplifying their impact in supporting employee wellbeing, ensuring our workplaces are not only compliant but nurturing environments where every individual thrives.

If you're a passionate safety professional, possess a keen eye for risk, and are ready to make a meaningful impact, we invite you to join us in shaping a safer Council.

What you can expect to do day to day

Reporting to the Executive Manager People & Culture, the WHS Manager will support the implementation of Council's health and safety objectives by driving cultural change and continuous improvement in work health and safety across all Council operations. This role plays a critical part in communicating and engaging with staff, contractors and key stakeholders, providing a high level of technical expertise and advice on matters relating to safety throughout the organisation. You will also provide support and guidance through coaching and mentoring of employees and management on WHS requirements and principals.
