Fairfield City Council is looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to join our team as an Electrician Apprentice! This is an exciting opportunity for someone eager to learn, grow, and gain hands-on experience in electrical work while contributing to the maintenance and improvement of essential infrastructure across the city.
Role Overview
As an Electrician Apprentice, you will supporting the skilled electricians on our team. This apprenticeship provides the perfect opportunity to learn the electrical trade from experienced professionals and gain practical experience that will set you up for a successful career in the electrical industry.
What You’ll Do
- Participate actively in their course as scheduled, make satisfactory progress through the course and successfully complete all assessment tasks and other course requirements within allocated timeframes.
- Undertake on-the-job training in the workplace and achieve work outcomes as directed.
- Carry out such duties as directed that are within the limits of the employee’s skill, competence and training.
- Plan and organise materials, tools and other resources required to undertake work efficiently and safely as directed.
- Accept responsibility for the day to day activities required and undertaken at the worksite.
- Safely and competently carry out maintenance and repairs under the supervision of manager, supervisor and technicians.
- Ensure all Work, Health and Safety policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
What We’re Looking For
- NSW School Certificate or equivalent.
- Current Drivers Licence (minimum Provisional P1 Licence)
- A genuine interest in the electrical trade, with a desire to learn and develop your skills.
- Good problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot electrical issues and find solutions.
- A keen attention to detail and a commitment to working safely and following instructions carefully.
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in a range of environments, including confined spaces and at heights.
- Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Basic math skills and an understanding of technical concepts are a plus.
- Reliability and punctuality, with a strong work ethic and eagerness to learn.
About the Apprenticeship
This apprenticeship is part of the Certificate III in Electrotechnology Electrician, delivered through a combination of on-the-job training and formal study over a 48-month period. The course is designed to provide you with the technical skills and knowledge needed to become a qualified electrician.
