Lane Cove Council is seeking candidates interested in completing an Apprenticeship to obtain a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology. Our four-year Apprenticeship Program will allow you to develop you skills, experience and knowledge to fulfil your dream of becoming a fully qualified Light Vehicle Mechanic. Throughout this apprenticeship programme you will receive a weekly salary as you learn on the job under the guidance of an experienced and skilled mechanic and a team of supportive, skilled professionals.

As part of your apprenticeship, you will:

  • Assist with the repair and maintenance of Council vehicles, plant and machinery in accordance with manufacturers specifications, workplace instructions and agreed policies and procedures.
  • Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in a satisfactory condition.
  • Assist with keeping accurate servicing records.
  • Develop a co-operative teamwork relationship with all members of staff
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with WH&S policies and procedures.

About You

The successful candidate will have:

  • School Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Not previously have completed a qualification in Mechanics or a related field.
  • Be enrolled (or have eligibility to enrol) in an apprenticeship course to obtain a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology
  • Willingness to learn and commit to successfully completing a Certificate III in Light Vehicle Mechanical Technology over 4 years.
  • Class C Driver's license
  • Sound ability to work within a team environment.

Salary range - $30,378 - $62,100 per annum (plus super) dependent on the skills, qualifications, and relevant experience of the suitable candidate.
