POSITION PURPOSE/OBJECTIVE
Work collaboratively with team and service areas to enhance business processes and
system use for digital data capture and analytical reporting. Undertake day to day
functions and support / guide team operations.
RELATIONSHIPS

Management and with other members of the
team. Works across service areas within the
Directorate with access to organisation-wide
specialist skills where required.

State Government Departments; customers and
the community.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Operational activities
• Work collaboratively to support and review business ecosystems through a digital
lens.
• Participate in the day-to-day activities of the team. Manage work scope / demands in
liaison with direct reports. Negotiate performance objectives and give constructive
feedback.
• Act as the NSW Planning Portal co-ordinator in the co-design of services and as
system administrator. Coach staff in its use.

• As part of the business ecosystem define and design data capture to meet statistical
and analytical reporting requirements. Identify data quality issues and data
redundancy.
• Look to eBusiness and facilitate or implement opportunities that improve the customer
experience such as online publishing of open data and / or access to visual
(geographical) data.
• Using a variety of mediums, coach power users and staff across the Directorate in
Council’s digital systems and processes including the use of field technology.
• Develop and refine digital registration, induction, training and scheduling systems for
management of risk and ease of use by a volunteer workforce.
• Facilitate hardware and software access for the Directorate. Complete accurate and
timely reports, presentations, business cases and responses to correspondence.
• Manage user-defined software systems. Including review / testing of new releases;
advocacy on system improvements; updating user defined fields and automated
workflows.
• Actively monitor the business environment and implement legislative or other required
changes as they relate to systems and business processes within the scope of the
Directorate services.

Workplace Health & Safety

You are responsible for ensuring that you conduct your risk management responsibilities
as described in council's Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) Policy and Procedure (the
ERM Framework) with the goal of ensuring that potential issues are identified and reported
in a timely manner.
COMMUNICATION
Clear communication skills are required to guide and coach technical and administrative
staff in software systems, processes and hardware use.
Business strategies are developed in conjunction with a wide range of people including
internal and external customers.
A plain English approach to complex issues is required to ensure that standard
documentation can be easily understood and interpreted in a consistent manner.

Analysis of statistical reports and the business environment is required to determine focus
areas for improvement and financial returns on investment.

Address operational issues and balance workload fluctuations to ensure successful

AUTHORITY
Provide high-level administrative input in a constantly changing business environment.
Make recommendations on the impact of legislative changes and business strategies on
processes and systems. Implement and monitor the impact and make variations to ensure
compliance and / or performance improvements.
High-level security access and input into the development and maintenance of Council’s
corporate software.
Make operational decisions to direct and focus team efforts.
SKILL, EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES
• Qualifications & experience
A diverse and extensive range of experience (typically gained over a period of more
than 5 years) in an administration role or equivalent demonstrated competencies.
Relevant tertiary qualifications at the Certificate III level (ie., 600 hours of face-to-face
learning), or equivalent demonstrated competencies gained through on-the-job
learning.

processes and procedures.
