Full Time Permanent Position

Band 7 - Salary Range $106,626 to $119,182 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

Are you looking for a great opportunity to put your skills into practice?  We are recruiting for the Circular Economy Project Officer role. The position will report to the Coordinator Sustainability and Climate Action and will lead the development and implementation of key projects and strategies, including the Circular Economy & Resource Recovery Strategy (currently being developed), to guide Council and the Community towards a zero-waste future. 

We require someone who thinks about ‘waste’ differently, is able to communicate the potential of moving towards a circular economy, can quickly establish good relationships and is keen to tackle new opportunities in a growth area Council. This position is a permanent on-going role.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and coordinate the development and implementation of the Circular Economy & Resource Recovery Strategy.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration within the organisation that creates opportunities for staff to grow and develop their understanding of being a zero-waste Council.
  • Coordinate the preparation and implementation of key strategies, policies and guidelines relating to circular economy and resource recovery that deliver improved outcomes for Council and the community in response to climate change and rapid urban development.
  • Provide technical advice relating to services provided by the Circular Economy team and opportunities for best practice resource recovery initiatives for Council projects, Precinct Structure Plans, Development Plans and planning applications.

About you
 

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Tertiary Qualification in a technical area with substantial experience, or formal qualifications with extensive waste management experience or proven experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the development and implementation of waste and resource recovery strategy, policy and education programs.
  • Expert understanding of the underlying principles of waste management, resource recovery and circular economy industry issues / practice, including current State Government policies, context, and potential funding opportunities.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
