About the position

The Collections Officer will work as part of the team at the Muswellbrook Regional Arts Centre. The role will manage accessioning, documentation, storage, and the display of art objects, ensuring best practices. Responsibilities will include safe handling, transport, valuation updates, conservation liaison, database maintenance, exhibition support, research, and written content development.

About you

  • Tertiary qualifications in Fine Arts, Art History, Visual Arts or Arts Administration or the equivalent, and/or relevant equivalent experience.
  • Solid experience in a museum / gallery in a relevant role including knowledge of standards in curatorial, registration, technical and conservation practices.
  • Solid knowledge of Australian art, including Aboriginal art and demonstrated broad knowledge of visual arts practice.
  • Demonstrated experience in collection management, exhibition development, curatorial research and publishing.
  • Demonstrated verbal and written communication skills with experience in the preparation of presentations and written material about works of art for the public and other stakeholders and the ability to contribute positively within a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated negotiation, interpersonal, time management skills and the ability to determine priorities and manage competing demands.
  • Current Working with Children Check.
  • Current NSW Class C Driver’s License.
  • Demonstrated experience and/or capability to deliver the Job Specific Key Accountabilities (outlined in the Position Description).
  • Demonstrated Fundamental key capabilities as defined in the Key Capabilities Table (outlined in the Position Description).

  • Temporary part time Term Contract, 21 hours per week, for a period of up to 9 months
  • Hourly Rate from $36.6043 to $41.1266 per hour (depending on qualifications, skills and experience) plus 11.5% superannuation
