Ballarat is home to some of Australia’s most historically significant cultural venues including Her Majesty’s Theatre, Civic Hall and the Mining Exchange. City of Ballarat’s freshly formed Cultural Venues team is embarking on exciting period of change and growth. In late 2024, Victoria’s oldest theatre is re-opening for its 150th anniversary after multiple stages of revitalisation, Civic Hall is returning to its live music touring roots and the Mining Exchange is being re-imagined for the future as a destination for art, performance, design, food, wine and more. The Role: We are looking for an extensively experience technical production specialist with a continuous-improvement mindset to lead the Production and Technical Services work area. This critical role sits within the Cultural Venues Leadership Team and will be focused on ensuring best practice production and technical service delivery, exceptional client and collaborator experience and a knack for interpreting creative vision into technical reality that creates magic every time a guest connects with these iconic spaces. The role will be key in essential workplace health and safety planning and delivery to the highest standards and working collaboratively across the organisation to ensure venues are maintained, developed and performing at their finest. This is an opportunity for an organised and experienced operator who has worked at scale and has achieved high degrees of efficacy in a senior production role. You will be a relationally oriented individual who will build the work area’s operations from the ground up in a way that is collaborative and nurturing for the Production and Technical Services Team. This challenging and rewarding role will work cooperatively across the Economy and Experience Division and national arts and live entertainment sector to support the creation of unforgettable experiences for locals and visitors to the Ballarat region.
