About the Opportunity

The Infrastructure Technical Officer provides technical services to the Western Downs Regional Council (WDRC) to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of Councils’ information technology and communication systems.

You will be:

  • Maintaining, implementing, configuring, and administering the operations of WDRC Servers (both virtual and physical, new and current) including associated hardware peripherals and system diagnostics.
  • Maintaining the integrity of all system data, incorporating systems backups and recovery, business continuity and disaster recovery.
  • Ensuring the successful implementation, upgrading and installation of server operating systems and hardware components in accordance with ITIL processes
  • Managing, co-ordinating and resolving software and hardware related problems and liaise with external services providers for the provision of services.
  • Designing, implementing, maintaining and reviewing document changes to Network and CCTV Infrastructure in accordance with ITIL processes. Recommend changes to align with future infrastructure requirements and to increase efficiency of system operations. This includes but is not limited to circuits, routers, switches, VPN, wireless, firewalls and remote access solutions.

This role is permanent, full time and based in Dalby, working 36.25 hours per week with a fortnightly RDO.

About yourself

A person in this position will need to hold a relevant Qualification in Information Technology, Computer Science or in a related field or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience. It is also highly desirable for the successful candidate to have:

  • Industry Certifications in VMWare or Microsoft virtualisation technologies
  • ITIL v3/v4 Foundation
  • Sound experience VMware; ESXi (5 and newer), vCenter and VMWare Data Recovery
  • Sound experience in Microsoft Domain Services (DNS, DHCP, DFS, AD, Group Policy)
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of networking principals/standards and experience working on LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi in complex environments.
  • Strong understanding of network design principles and common enterprise technologies, with a particular focus on WAN technologies, firewall configuration, design, and configuration of Juniper routers and Aruba access points.
