Band 6 - Salary Range $95,073 to $103,531 per annum + 11.5% Super + ADO

The Opportunity

We are seeking a passionate and experienced Senior Arts Project Officer to join our team and contribute to the cultural development of our municipality. This role will play an important role in managing and delivering high-impact arts projects and programs within the City of Melton. This position involves overseeing the full lifecycle of arts projects, from inception through to completion, ensuring they meet the needs of our community and enhance public spaces.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute project plans for public and visual arts, managing timelines, budgets, and resources while coordinating with artists, contractors, and community groups.
  • Design and implement public art programs and exhibitions, curating, installing, and evaluating projects in line with best practices.
  • Build and maintain relationships with artists, arts organizations, and community groups, and collaborate with stakeholders to support arts initiatives.
  • Prepare, negotiate, and manage contracts for arts projects, ensuring compliance with policies and requirements.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in arts management, Public Administration, or a related field with some relevant experience. Alternatively, a lesser formal qualification combined with substantial
    relevant work experience will be considered.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years in managing and delivering complex arts projects, preferably within the public sector. Experience should include project planning, budgeting, and stakeholder coordination.
  • Proficiency in public art policies, best practices, and contract management. Familiarity with budgeting techniques and financial management related to arts projects.
  • Current First Aid qualification.
  • Current valid Victorian Driver’s Licence.
  • Must hold or be able to obtain an Employee Working with Children Check.
