Role Overview
The Senior Officer Business Analyst plays a critical role in managing information flow and providing expert advice to support decision-making. This position is responsible for assessing, developing, and implementing performance indicators to monitor business performance, while identifying potential issues and risks.
Working under general direction, the Senior Officer will maintain and optimise reporting structures and systems, ensuring data is validated and certified for effective business use. A key responsibility is enhancing data analytics capabilities within the Water branch, delivering valuable insights to drive informed business decisions.
Additionally, this role will focus on generating business value through data analytics, contributing to process automation and supporting business-as-usual operations via dashboards and applications.
Essential Knowledge & Skills:
- Advanced Data Analytics Expertise - Strong knowledge of data analytics tools, techniques, and methodologies to extract, analyse, and interpret data for actionable insights.
- Business Performance Monitoring - Proficiency in developing and managing key performance indicators (KPIs) and performance metrics to track and enhance business outcomes.
- Reporting and Data Management Systems - Experience in maintaining and optimising business reporting systems, ensuring data accuracy, validation, and certification for business use with the ability to analyse data to uncover potential business risks.
- Process Automation Skills - Ability to design and implement automated solutions to streamline business-as-usual (BAU) processes, using dashboards, applications, and other tools.
- Data Visualisation and Dashboarding - Expertise in creating and using data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to present complex data in an understandable and actionable format.
