The Role
Reporting to the Coordinator Risk, Governance and Compliance, this position leads the risk team within the City of Ballarat to develop, implement and embed risk management and risk culture across the organisation. The role’s responsibilities include oversight for City of Ballarat’s risk, insurance and compensation claim process, internal audit and assurance functions. The position works in a dynamic and varied environment with a collaborative and fun team, as we partner with and support business units to manage risks across the City of Ballarat.
About You
We are looking for an experienced and collaborative individual with well-developed expertise in risk management, insurance, audit management and/or assurance. You have experience managing teams and are known to support and develop the skills of others around you. You are well-known for your ability to communicate and partner with stakeholders to gain cooperation and achieve outcomes. You have a well-developed ability to analyse and critically consider information to provide advice, recommendations and options to stakeholders. You are comfortable managing competing priorities with a positive attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement and managing risk.
Qualifications and Experience
Completion of a degree or diploma course in risk management/audit/assurance/compliance/law or relevant field with extensive relevant experience. This might also be acquired through lesser formal qualifications and substantial relevant experience, or through substantial relevant experience in the field of risk management/audit/assurance/compliance/law or relevant field
Key selection criteria
Knowledge and understanding of health and safety issues relevant to work activities and work area.
