About the opportunity

We are seeking permanent, full-time Support Officers to join our busy and expanding Community Law Enforcement and Waste team.

This role will provide clerical services to support the effective and efficient operations of the team including the delivery of our new food organics and garden organics (FOGO) waste bin service. An ideal candidate will be personable, energetic, full of ideas to improve systems and processes and love serving the community.

You will be responsible for:

  • Correspondence, reports, agendas, minutes and general administrative tasks
  • Interaction with customers and stakeholders
  • Supporting team members with administrative tasks
  • Other secretarial or clerical support as directed by the Manager Community Law Enforcement and Waste.

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualification in a related field
  • Suitable experience and/or qualifications in a related field
  • High-level oral and written communication skills including sound negotiation and conflict resolution skills
  • Demonstrated organisational skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain the strictest confidentiality and professionalism
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Demonstrated advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work productively and collaboratively within a fast paced multidisciplinary environment
  • Class C driver's licence.

Desirable:

  • Experience using corporate databases (e.g. TRIM, Tech1, SCOUT)
  • Experience in basic financial management
  • Experience in website content management
  • Proven competency in minute-taking
  • Proven excellent time management and organisation skills, with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks, meet diverse business priorities and work under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to manage a busy and ever-changing workload.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,265.47 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
