The Opportunity

Are you a seasoned financial professional with a passion for public service and a knack for leading teams? The Rural City of Wangaratta is seeking a dynamic Financial Controller to oversee our financial operations. This is your chance to contribute to the financial health and sustainability of our community while advancing your career in a collaborative environment. As the Financial Controller, you will be at the helm of our financial operations, ensuring the delivery of high-quality financial accounting and reporting services.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Timely completion of internal and statutory financial reports, annual budgets and financial statements, while maintaining the integrity of the general ledger.
  • You will oversee the maintenance of our financial and information systems while driving system improvements.
  • Reporting directly to the Manager Finance, you will lead a team of dedicated professionals, fostering a high-performance culture and continuous improvement.
