About the opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity on a permanent, full-time basis for a talented and qualified young professional, who is passionate about providing a safe and sustainable traffic and transport network for our city, that supports a healthy balance between mobility, safety and amenities. This is a mid-level role with the opportunity to advance in future to more senior roles when available.

We recently restructured ourselves in 3 core areas, Transport Planning, Network Management and Smart Transport (e.g. sustainable transport, active transport, ITS). We believe in aligning your talent and interests with your tasks for you to enjoy your work and develop your professional career.

We are in the process of developing varies transport related strategies which will determine the future direction for transport in Blacktown City and you will play an important role in that. 

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

  • Tertiary qualifications in traffic engineering or an engineering related field
  • Relevant experience in accordance with requirements outlined in the position description
  • A good level of skills and knowledge to undertake investigation and assessment of traffic related issues
  • Good written communication skills for preparation of reports and correspondence
  • Good verbal communication and negotiation skills to liaise with the public and relevant external agencies
  • Experience in community consultation and computer applications will be highly regarded
  • Knowledge of applicable legislation/regulations
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service
  • Ability to work within a team environment
  • Availability to work flexible working hours
  • Current class “C” driver’s licence.

Remuneration and benefits

The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with Blacktown City Council’s Enterprise Agreement.

  • Entry level for this position starts at $1,663.50 per week
  • 35-hour working week
  • Car allowance or leaseback vehicle
  • Opportunity to participate in Council's flextime arrangement
  • Employee benefits such as leave entitlements (where applicable), 11.5% employer contribution payable to your nominated superannuation fund, Fitness Passport, gym membership discounts, and social clubs.
