The Opportunity

We are seeking a Waste Project Lead to join our dedicated team of professionals in delivering impactful waste management projects and services. This is an exceptional opportunity for a highly skilled individual with project management experience and technical expertise in waste management and environmental practices. As Waste Project Lead, you will take the lead on pivotal initiatives such as landfill rehabilitation, kerbside reform, and organics processing to ensure compliance and continuous improvement in our community’s waste services.

Key Responsibilities

As Waste Project Lead, you will:

  • Lead Major Waste Projects: Take charge of significant capital works including kerbside reform, landfill management, and organics processing. Ensure effective project planning and delivery.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all landfill and waste facilities meet the highest environmental standards and comply with EPA regulatory requirements.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with the community through educational programs, public presentations, and promotional campaigns to raise awareness of our waste services and environmental goals.
  • Collaborative Leadership: Work closely with the Waste Management Coordinator and other teams to identify opportunities for service improvements and efficiencies in waste delivery.
  • Data & Reporting: Monitor waste data, prepare detailed reports for local government performance frameworks, and stay abreast of national waste management regulations.
  • Grant Acquisition: Seek and manage external funding opportunities to support high-priority waste management projects.

What we are looking for

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • Tertiary Qualification: A degree in Environmental Engineering/Science, Project Management, or Asset Management.
  • Project Management Experience: Extensive experience managing waste-related projects, from planning to implementation, ensuring regulatory compliance and stakeholder engagement.
  • Technical Expertise: In-depth knowledge of landfill operations, organics processing, resource recovery, and municipal waste management practices.
  • Communication Skills: Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage complex technical discussions and engage a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving Ability: A strategic thinker who can analyze data, identify issues, and propose effective solutions to optimize waste services.
  • Driver’s Licence: A current driver’s licence is essential for site visits and project oversight.
