Expressions of interest are invited to fill an independent representative position for a four-year term commencing on 28 February 2025.
The Audit and Risk Committee has been established under s53 of the Local Government Act 2020 and provides a structured, systematic oversight of Council’s governance, risk management and internal control practices in order to provide Council with confidence in the integrity of these practices. The Committee meets five times per year and its membership includes two Councillors and a minimum of three (but up to four) suitably qualified, independent representatives.
Applications will be assessed on the following criteria:
· Senior business or financial management/reporting knowledge and experience.
· High levels of financial literacy.
· Understanding of corporate risk management and risk management practices including treatments, mitigations and controls.
· Knowledge of Council’s operations and the environment in which it operates.
· Strong communication skills.
· High level of personal integrity and ethics.
Remuneration
Independent Audit Committee Members are paid per meeting at a rate agreed by Council - currently $700 per meeting.
